Hi! How did you like yesterday's snow? Beautiful on the trees and grass but ugly on the roads. It's now time for my yearly reminder - if the weather is questionable, please call before you come. I get to be a 'mess' when I know snow is on the way. With my new knees, I'm getting worse (of course, I'm also getting older, but we'll forget about that). So, I left early yesterday.
Please call and make sure I'm here. Telephone number is 215-513-9373.

Have fun and keep stitching! Carolyn

Hi, Fellow Stitchers ---- We had a GREAT Grand Opening last weekend. Thanks to all of you who made it a success!!!!! I want to announce the winners of 2 Gift Certificates: Kathy Savage and Leslie Murphy - Congrats!!!!
Blackbird Designs has released the September and October Stocking charts. A Loose Feather Design is due shortly. If you purchased a copy of Joyeux Noel - there is an error. We have a correction sheet for the Wild Berry design.
Lizzie Kate released a new automatic featuring the first of her new Boxer Giggle series for 2010. She released a dog Quick-It in honor of her late 'puppy' with donations going to the Kansas Humane Society. Another Quick-It called Live Simply and a chart Trust God round out her selection.

Country Cottage Needleworks has released her Spring Social Series. Number 1 (of 5) is Birdhouse Garden. I have to admit I like this series better than her winter one. Belle Soie silks are included in each package and it is stitched on 28 count Lambswool linen.

Victoria Sampler has their new Carol Singer Sampler out and it looked good in the preview and even better in person. It's one of those charts I look at and think I have to do it. Of course there are a lot of those but this one I really think I'll have to start soon.

Well, gotta go. I need to get back to work. Here are a couple more pictures.

See you soon! Carolyn

Monday, November 23, 2009

If you haven't seen us yet, here's a couple of previews:

Quite a difference - Larger, Brighter and no steps to come in.

See ya!

Hi! I'm still alive after the move. We are all in the new space and basically set up. Pegboards still need to be installed to display models and my frame corners need to be put up. Then it will be nothing but fine tuning. New charts are arriving shortly as I didn't order anything extra so I didn't have to move it.

Just want to sincerely thank all who helped me move! I couldn't have done it without you.

Will catch up later--keep stitching!

Carolyn

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Here it is - my NEW phone number: 215-513-9373

Couldn't keep the entire number since I was moving into a new area code; did manage to keep the last 4 digits.

Some things are moved already and more this week with the final move on Saturday. Heard something about rain - so please say a prayer that it only rains on Saturday after 5 PM . Thanks.

I will be here - open - of sorts - till Friday. Then everything gets moved Saturday. Last to be packed will be fabric and floss. Models being packed today plus frames. Charts Thursday. Boy, I didn't realize how much 'stash' I have here at the shop.

Gotta go and get changing my address with suppliers and get packing more.

See ya, Carolyn

Saturday, October 17, 2009

Well, Here they are, fellow stitchers! Pictures of the new shop - just 7 days away till the big move. Next week, we'll be packing in earnest. I will be open at the new shop on Tuesday Oct 27 - some boxes may still be sitting around but they will be taken care of quickly. There will be lots to do and time to do it.
If you come into the shop anytime from Oct 27 to Nov 14, you will receive a 20% discount on any one item of your choice. (You could take this 20% savings and go check out the Lederach Tea Room across the street. I haven't been there in ages but I hear the food is good.)
I will have a GRAND OPENING on Fri, Sat and Sun, November 27, 28 & 29.
Come in and check out our specials and register to win one of two Gift Certificates given away that weekend.
Hours remain the same, T-S 10-4, Th 10-7 and 1st Sun 11-2. Hours for the Grand Opening will be posted closer to the time.
Our current phone number will be automatically transferred to our New number. I will be able to give that to you next week.
Don't forget to check out our new digs. Talk to you next week.
Keep stitching!

Friday, October 9, 2009

Hi, Everybody! I'm back to work after a really great cross stitch retreat weekend. We had a fabulous time. I had classes with Alma and Barb from Blackbird Designs and Jeannette from Jeannette Douglas Designs. They gave us 2 really nice projects (there goes my 'to do' pile) and then we received other projects throughout the weekend. Shepherd's Bush gave us a pattern for a pumpkin 'bag' and Charland gave everyone a beautiful sterling silver acorn necklace. It was relaxing and beautiful. Weather cooperated and was warm. Didn't take a 'walk' on the beach- don't know how my new knees would handle the loose sand but had a great view of the beach from our hotel balcony. It was soooo relaxing but it's great to be home.

Don't forget, the shop will be open this Sunday from 11-2, to make up for my Sunday off, last week.

Rosewood Manor charts have arrived at the shop. More charts are due to arrive today. Here's some of them: Blackbird's Halloween Greetings, Midnight Watch and Joyeux Noel ( a really cool book), Midnight Stitching's Quaker Welcome, Country Cottage Needleworks's Pie Menu and Pegasus' Favorite Dog Stocking Collection.

Well, gotta go and get some more sorting and packing done. The move has been scheduled for Saturday October 24th. That week will mean some serious packing so get your floss and fabric now. Then come out on the week of October 27 and check out the new 'digs'.

Bye, for now. Carolyn

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Hi, Fellow Stitchers! Just a quick reminder, we will be CLOSED from Thursday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 4. We will be open Sunday October 11 from 11-2.

New items from market have been ordered and should be arriving next week.

New overdyed threads from The Gentle Art should be arriving soon. Weeks Dye Works and Crescent Colours also have new colors that will be arriving soon.

Oh, my! All this new stuff arriving just in time for me to pack it up and move it.

Gotta go. Much to do before I leave. Carolyn

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Hey Stitchers! There are lots of VERY nice things coming out at market this weekend. I just wanted to show you some pictures - some are here, some are coming. So sit back and enjoy!

JBW Designs has shipped her auto and they are here. Two more charts with Christmas tree ornaments, a French Country Turkey, a French Country Snow Globe and a French Country Wreath.

I'm thinking about stitching the snow globe , only, and mounting it into an ornament. Maybe I'll change the color of the base to a gold.

Crescent Colours and Shakespeare's Peddler are bringing out Christmasland - a four part silk/chartpack of a cute village scene. These have been ordered and the first installment should arrive around the first week in October.

Rosewood Manor has been designing and designing. Ring in Christmas is a Quaker Stocking. The chart can be personalized and is done on a 28 white evenweave or linen, in DMC 815. How about using an overdye floss to enhance the Quaker motifs? Another design is Quaker Diamonds, a companion piece to Quaker and Quilts, also done in Valdani fibers and on 28 count Mello fabric from Picture This Plus. This chart is 1o pages and offers ideas for other pieces to stitch. Vintage Lace, an 18 page chart, offers the large cover design , 12 mini designs and 2 medium sized samplers.

Little House Needleworks has The Library coming out - very popular among you readers. And Carriage House Samplings, of course, has the long awaited Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Hey, Everybody! Time has flown.

BACK TO SCHOOL SALE - Receive 20% off your entire purchase on FRIDAY SEPT 18 AND SATURDAY SEPT 19 --- 10-4 EACH DAY. Stop by and stock up so you can get some good stitching time in now that school has started!

REMINDER: Just Cross Stitch will be CLOSED ON OCTOBER 1, 2, 3 and 4 - that's Thursday thru Sunday. We will be OPEN on SUNDAY OCT 11 from 11-2. I am going on a Cross Stitch Retreat and I can't wait. I will be in Virginia Beach, VA attending a retreat sponsored by Dyeing 2 Stitch, a local shop. The shop owners are also the ladies who dye R&R fabrics. Blackbird Designs and Jeanette Douglas, from Canada, will be my 'teachers' for the retreat. Shepherd's Bush and Charland, from Canada, will also be there offering classes. As I said, I can't wait. Not only will this be my first retreat but it will be my first vacation in YEARS. I've always counted my wholesale markets as vacations - that is working vacations. But this one is going to be all pleasure and stitching.

Now, for some VERY IMPORTANT NEWS: Just Cross Stitch is on the move to bigger digs. That's right, WE ARE MOVING! After 12+ years in Limerick, we will be relocating to Lederach - right on Route 113, about half way between Route 73 in Skippack and Route 63 in Harleysville. We will occupy 820 square feet known as Unit #3 in the Lederach Commons, across the street from the Lederach Tea Room. We are set off Route 113 in an older 'strip mall' that contains Curves, a hair salon, the Lederach Post Office and several other businesses. Current plans are to physically move Saturday October 24.

The actual 'shop' area will be close to 2 times my current space. I plan to have a table set up for stitchers to frequent during the day, whenever the mood strikes. I'll have a back room for shop 'business' and storage. And much more room to spread out and create more displays so it will be easier to see everything.
And, there are NO steps to come into the shop.

As I said, we will be moving on Saturday Oct 24. Non-essential items will be moved much earlier. We will start taking the shop apart and packing the week of Oct 20. We will be open for business at the new location on Tuesday Oct 27. We may not be all set up, but we will be there for you to come and check us out.
I probably will be finding places for inventory even I haven't seen in a while. Oh boy! It's going to be like opening a BIG present when I start to pack.

Stay tuned for more info and our plans for a Grand Opening in Lederach.

Talk to you soon! Carolyn

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Hi! Just one more teaser - BACK TO SCHOOL SALE IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY SEPT 18 AND SATURDAY SEPT 19! Watch for more info.

Blackbird Designs "Sweet August" - August stockings - has just arrived. Each stocking is done on a different fabric - Creek Bed Brown, Dye Pot Blend and Ann-tique Hydrangea. Start checking your Crescent Colours inventory as these 3 stockings take 14 Crescent colours.

Blue Ribbon Designs is coming out with 3 new charts: "Afraid of the Dark", "Black Cats and Flying Bats" and "A Sampling in the Square". Should be available shortly. Have you seen the new Glendon Place Halloween chart? It's fabulous and will be in next week. I've never seen the Headless Horsemen look so good!

Carriage House Samplings has put out some teasers on the soon to be released "Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow". Here they are---

The model was stitched in NPS but she has given a DMC conversion.

Well, I've given you some food for thought. Have a good Labor Day Weekend. I will be here working. We will be open Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 11-2.
Be Safe and Keep Stitching. Carolyn

Friday, August 28, 2009

Hey, Stitchers! Started a stocking Tuesday night. Here's a picture - didn't get too far, but I love it!

It's the Haunted House and the toe has a black cat with his back and tail up.

Here's a Halloween 'band ' that I'm also working on- done on 18 ct natural linen over 2 with #5 perle cottons. This is from a Prairie Schooler chart. I haven't decided what to do with it yet. It will finish off at about 3 inches wide and will be used as a band around a basket or candle jar or maybe placed on a grapevine wreath. The possibilities are many.

I just got this pillow back from my finisher and am so happy with the results. This is a free pattern and, once again, has many possibilities for finishing.

I just love my 8 sided pillow - in purple - with a crazy fringe. Oops! This picture got turned upside down in creating it but you can still get a real clear view of my BATS for Halloween.
What do you think of my pillow?

Today is the day! The Blackbird Tis Halloween has arrived. We have the charts, the fabric and the floss and I'm going to stitch - or at least start- a stocking tonight!!! I will be pricing and cutting and sorting flosses on Wednesday and calling all you special people who pre-ordered the chart.

I'm expecting an auto from Lizzie Kate tomorrow and an order from Hoffmman Distributors should arrive so I will be a busy beaver. Talk again, soon! Maybe I'll even have a 'stocking' to scan tomorrow and share with you.

Carolyn

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Hi Stitchers! Blackbird Designs is 'teasing' us on the Tis Halloween book. Here's another picture. Supposedly, this is all 13 of them. It's really hard to tell. There will be 13 stocking patterns and a couple of other projects in the book. Hear tell, they are to be delivered, from the printer, to Blackbird on Monday and she will start packing and shipping them to distributors.

Wouldn't these stockings look great on a grapevine wreath decorated with bittersweet or colorful fall leaves? Or better yet, how about a garland to decorate your mantel?

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

The Picture is Finally Here! Reserve your copy now if you haven't done so.
It's going to be great. We will have fabric and flosses to complete any of the stockings you may want to stitch. All will be coming in, hopefully, about 2 weeks. I can't wait till it gets here.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

It's Here!!!! Hot off the press! The 2009 Prairie Schooler!
More to come.

Monday, August 3, 2009

Hey, Stitchers! Thanks for participating in our Christmas in July week. Now it's back to the regular day in day out stuff. I've been stitching up several of Blackbird's monthly stockings - I've done the July house and the star quilt pattern stockings and the stork. I got creative and stitched the start quilt pattern stocking on a 12 count Jute in a wheat color. I used red and green perle cotton and it stitched up really nice. It's about 12 inches long and it will make a nice Christmas decoration or even a really nice stocking for a family member. I stitched their Loose Feathers It's Berry Time without the alphabet across the top and I love it. It's waiting to be framed. And I just can't wait till the Halloween stocking book comes out.

We've ordered in some new publications and they should be in on Wednesday. Soon as they arrive, I'll try and get some pictures up so you know what's new. Check us out later in the week. Until then, keep stitching.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Hey, Stitchers! Long time no talk. Been busy doing a little of this and a little of that and stitching. Time once again has gotten away from me.

We are having CHRISTMAS IN JULY in the shoppe. It starts TODAY and runs through SATURDAY AUGUST 1. You do realize how fast this holiday is approaching, don't you? I always heard how time passes faster when you get older, but I'm beginning to think it's utterly ridiculous how fast time is passing.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY offers good savings -- you'll get 25% off all Christmas charts in stock and 15% off fabric purchased to do any of the Christmas charts you buy. You'll receive a 15% discount on all Fall and Halloween charts as that season is also fast approaching.

Blackbird Designs has their monthly stocking charts out up to July. The August chart should be arriving in a couple of weeks along with a newly announced release - a Halloween Stocking Book with 13 Halloween stocking charts. They use 3 R&R fabrics and Weeks Dye Works, Gentle Art Sampler Threads and Crescent Colours to stitch the designs. We've contacted our distributors to get automatic delivery of the chart and supplies so we don't miss out on anything that's needed.
We are accepting pre-orders for the chart and any or all of the supplies. I have a feeling that once my initial order is gone, it may take time to get restocks that may be needed. Their last Halloween book was a big success and I think this one will be, too.

JBW has new ornament charts out and we have them. She also has a hat shopping chart to accompany her previously released shoe shopping chart. This would also work for anyone who's a Red Hat member, just change some colors.

Well, gotta go. Some charts need pricing and threads need twisting . There's always something to do in the shop and unfortunately it's not stitching. Don't forget to check out www.hoffmandis.com and www.nordencrafts.com for new releases. (We can order anything you see on these websites.)

Carolyn

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Hi, Stitchers! Just want to wish you a happy and safe 4th of July holiday! The shop will be closed on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th. We will honor Sunday hours on Sunday July 12 from 11-2 this month, so mark your calendar. Don't forget Tuesday July 14th - the yearly special day honoring our 14th year in business. There will be a special that day.

New charts have arrived, including the Loose Feathers It's A Berry Time. Two new stocking charts are due out this coming week for June and July, also from Blackbird. Lizzie Kate's new charts have arrived and new ones from JBW Designs are due soon.

Give us a call and reserve a copy of the annual Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament issue for 2009. Tried to give you a peek at the cover, but my picture would not load, so, for now, you'll have to stop in and check out my 'photo' of the cover. That's all for now. Keep stitching and enjoy your holiday.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Dreary weather makes good stitching time! Don't you agree? But I'm here at the shop, doing 'work' things while my stitching sits at home, waiting for me. Oh well! But, we'll be getting new charts in at the end of the week. More to stitch for samples. The Columbus Market is this weekend, so we'll be seeing lots of new charts over the next couple of weeks. Lizzie Kate emailed us info on here new Double Flip project for Christmas. She's taken the words 'Merry Christmas' and created phrases for each letter and charted it vertically. Blackbird Designs has the May Stockings out. As you can see, they've done a May Basket and Lily of the Valley on two of the stockings. I can remember as a kid, picking lots of lilies of the valley and putting them in water, tinted with food coloring and watching the white flowers become tinged with color.
Lizzie Kate is also coming out with a Quick to Stitch line - the first being a Halloween design. It is supposed to be a very quick stitch. It should travel very easily and may be a great project for your vacation or watching those little league games. Lizzie Kate's new items should ship the middle of next week.

Country Cottage Needleworks is releasing a new chart, in installments - Winter Wonderland, with Belle Soie Silks, included. This will be a special order for those who sign up for the entire series. So sign up now, as we will be ordering next week, when the designers return from market.

For those of you who like Quaker designs, check out www.needleprint.com - this is the group who printed the Ackworth samplers. They have a new sampler chart available, free. It is Mary Wigham, from 1790. Yes, it is free. It's available in nine installments. All they ask for is a donation. I think this is a great idea. It's not costing them printing fees so all the money they receive as a donation for the chart will go directly into the Ackworth School Sampler Fund to preserve these valuable samplers for years to come.
Gotta go - work is calling. Keep checking back to see new charts or check out www.hoffmandis.com or www.nordencrafts to see new charts as they get them from the designers.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Hi, Again! I've got too much on the old brain and the one thing I wanted to say in today's post - I FORGOT! I APOLOGIZE! I wanted to THANK all those who gave stash donations to my porch sale and all those who came and made cash donations for some of that stash. Again, THANKS to all who helped me and were there to help St Jude's!
Hey everyone! Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. The weather held and we had our porch sale. We collected a little over $100 for St Jude's Childrens Hospital. We still have the 'donated stash' in the shop, at least through this week, if you want to check it out. Cash donations will still be acccepted.

June is the month for another Market. We will not be going to Columbus to attend, but we will be getting in new things from the designers. Lizzie Kate and JBW will send us their new charts. Once other designers release their new designs, we'll get them in, ASAP. New overdyed threads will be released. Gentle Arts is releasing 4 new colors: Sunflower, Raspberry Frost, Autumn Leaves and Chives. Weeks Dye Works is releasing Kris' Bon Bon and Watermelon Punch. Crescent Colours will release 3 new cottons: Mauvelous, Sea Shelley and Mint Julep. They will also release 3 new Belle Soie Silk colors.

Keep in mind the date of Tuesday June 23. WE WILL BE CLOSED! I've been called for Jury Duty and I won't know for sure until late Monday. So keep this in mind and call before you come. Just in case.

We have 2 new releases from Glendon Place: Web of Stash ( to celebrate our stitcher's stash) and A Bloom of Hope ( for Breast Cancer).
Little House Needleworks has released Fresh Watermelons and Colonial Women.

Enjoy and Keep Stitching.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Hey Stitchers! It's a lovely day out there. Hope with this beautiful weather, you've still been finding time to cross stitch. The designers are still designing great charts and we are still getting in new ones every week or two. Wanted to remind you to check your stash and donate the unwanted items to our porch sale on the 23rd of May and that is just a little over one week away. Does it seem possible that Memorial Day is here so fast? I can't believe it. But our Sale is Saturday May 23 from 10-4 and items in the shop will be on sale so check us out. Don't forget to stop is the shop on the 14th of the month for our 'anniversary' specials.

Remember, we carry all types of flosses: DMC, Weeks Dye Works, Crescent Colours, Gentle Art Sampler Threads and Threadworx. We carry fabrics from Charles Craft, Zweigart, Graziano and Wichelt Permin; overdyes from Lakeside Linen, Picture this Plus, Weeks Dye Works and R&R.

Here's some pictures of charts due in this week! Enjoy!!!

Homespun Elegance

Mirabilia Midsummer Nights Dream La D Da

Friday, May 8, 2009

Hi Stitchers! It's a beautiful day today with some sunshine and, as of right now, no rain. We've had like 9 straight days of rain and I'm tired of it. My grass is so high that the mower man is going to have to use a baler to cut it. Oh well, that's his problem and not mine.

Just want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all! May you all have a wonderful day. You know the spring is pretty much behind us and summer is fast approaching. It soon will be Memorial Day weekend and you know Saturday May 23 is our Porch Sale with donated items and all proceeds going to St Jude's Hospital. The donations are trickling in but we can still take more. So sort through that stash of yours and decide what you may no longer want and donate it. We also will have a sale in the shoppe, so stop by our Porch sale and then come in and check out our specials. Be sure to stop in and pick up your Summer Coupon Card. This card will offer you one coupon for each of the summer months of June, July and August. When you use the coupon we will punch it and if you have all three punched, you can redeem the card in September when it will be worth $7.25 toward a chart of your choice. My customers have enjoyed using their coupons over the last several years and you'll be able to do it again this year.

Coming up, Christmas in July will be July 21 thru July 25 and all Christmas items will be 20% off. Halloween and Fall will be discounted 15% so you will be able to get a jump on all upcoming holidays for the rest of the year. It just doesn't seem possible that time is passing so quickly.

The new Blackbird Feathers #36 has arrived and it's really nice. We have the charts and the Marva Blend 30 count fabric to do the picture. If you purchase a chart, we'll offer you the 12 skeins of Weeks Dye Works at a special price of $21.00, that's a savings of over $5.00.This special offer is valid through the end of May.

Also new to the shoppe are 2 new aida fabrics from Charles Craft. You will be able to cast a magical spell with the shimmering new Stardust needlework fabric. It is 14 count and comes as Silver Dusted(bottom fabric) and Gold Dusted (top).

Currently available in 15"x18" cuts, each comes with a free pattern. A wedding sampler chart comes with the silver and a really cute dragon comes with the gold. Come check them out and I'll bet you'll be able to picture one of your charts on this fabric. Just imagine some Christmas chart on them or some of the ornaments you've been meaning to stitch from your Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Magazine. (The 2009 issue will be out in September.) I scanned the fabrics and I think the colors came out pretty good. Hope they show on your computer screen just as good as on mine.

Well, it's almost time to close the shoppe and I need to do a few things, yet. So see you soon and keep stitching.

Boy, I've got to get a handle on placing these pictures properly. They look one way when I preview my post but they somehow come out looking differently when you see it. But here's a picture of the APRIL SHOWERS
Hey, I'm back again. Just want to give you an update on the 2009 Blackbird Loose Feathers Club. Here's pictures of the first in this series - a peacock pinkeep done on overdyed 28 count gingham fabric and accompanying needlebook.

This year will have bonus patterns, once again. A theme of stitching accessories will be topped off in the 6th issue with a container to hold them.

And, here's a preview of the next pattern due out shortly. If you are not currently signed up to receive this year's series, just give us a call. We can supply you with chart and fabric and even add the fibers - just let us know what you want. We can even mail them to you. We will be carrying the walnut base from Milady's needle. A limited number will be available so reserve yours now. If we need to reorder, you'll need to wait, as they are hand turned.
Blackbird Designs new chart - APRIL SHOWERS - is the fourth in the series of 12 charts. Each chart offers three stockings for the month. Each stocking finishes about 5.5 inches long. Keep stitching them as they are released and you could have 36 for your tree come December.
Great finishing instructions are given to finish them by hand but I've one stitcher who pulled out her sewing machine and stitched them together in no time flat.

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Forgot to show you this picture of a soon to be released chart I think is great! I will be starting this chart as soon as it arrives.
Hey! It's going to be a hot weekend! Maybe we should just stay inside and stitch or find a cool spot outside and stitch. BUT just remember to stitch! Just wanted to check in and let you know what's going on with Just Cross Stitch. I'm currently stitching Little House Needlework's LOVING AND FAITHFUL, the 3rd in the Little Women Virtues Series. You are provided an alphabet to personalize the chart with the name of a friend, mother, sister - anyone who fits the design. It's coming together quickly and easily as the chart provides Belle Soie silk floss with which to stitch. I've just finished IDA MAE CROW from Good Huswife and a friend stitched up Country Cottage Needleworks BAYSIDE RENTALS for me for a shop sample. I just need to add the buttons and get a frame and it will be finished.
Lots of new goodies have been arriving lately. Antique Sampler summer magazine issue has arrived early. Little House Needleworks
has two new designs out: ALPHABET RHYME and BEE SAMPLER. La De Da's DOWN BY THE BAY

Shakespeare's Peddler's new I LOVE THE BIRDS is on order

Here's some more picture of new charts to the
shop.

Right: Blackbird Design's new APRIL SHOWERS, #4 in the stocking series.

Most of the above are already in the shop and some are on order. Stay tuned for more new designs and come check us out. Don't forget to donate your unwanted stash for our Porch Sale on May 23, the proceeds from your donations will go to St Jude's Children's Hospital.

Keep Stitching....Carolyn (Boy, it sure is hard to put in pictures exactly where you want them!)

Friday, April 10, 2009

Hi! Happy Easter! Just wanted to check in and tell you about a few things happening in the shop this April and May. First, Don't forget the 14th of the month -our 'anniversary' celebration. If the 14th of the month falls on a day the shop is open, we will celebrate that day with 'something' on sale. Just remember to check us out.

If you have been a customer of mine for a while, you will remember we had Just Cross Stitch tote bags. Well, I hope you still have your bag, because, starting April 15th and going to May 22nd, IF you bring your bag IN with you , we will give you 10% off your purchases. We still have a few bags available for the purchase price of $5.00.

Next on my list of info, the Online Needlework Show will start Wednesday April 15th at 2P.M. and end at midnight on Monday April 20th. You can access the show at http://www.needleworkshow.com/ 24/7 during this time. View over 100 designers and a selection of their products and then place your order with us. Just be aware that some designers require minimum purchases, even through this venue and if we can't meet the minimum order, we will do our best to get the chart for you. We are listed in the shop section . I would prefer orders by phone at 610-409-9373 but I can accept them by email at justcrossstitch@rcn.com. I just always have the fear that an email may never reach me. Please place orders by Sunday the 19th, so I can place my orders on Monday the 20th. All orders must be accompanied by a credit card number.

Last on my list is to remind you that we are once again having our Memorial Day Porch Sale on Saturday May 23rd. Hours: 10-4. Come in and check out our shop specials for that day after you've browsed our porch sale items. For those of you who are new, the items on the porch are donations from fellow stitchers. Give a DONATION for the items you like and all proceeds from the porch sale will be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

So that means, I will start accepting donations on the 1st of May. Go through your stash! Donate what you no longer want! Remember, your unwanted stash could be someone else's treasure.

Well, here is is, almost the end of another week - where does the time go? It's March, already, and ready to lose an hour this weekend. I much rather the fall, when I gain that hour back. But I have no choice right now but to lose an hour of stitching time.

I'm not so great in describing color but I'm going to tell you a little about the new fabric I picked up in Nashville at Market. Some may have been around a while but others are brand new, so here goes. Picture This Plus always has new fabric at the Nashville Market and I picked up several new colors. Barnwood, in 28 count Lugana, is very chocolate in color and quite marbelized in dark and light areas; Earthen is a nice tannish color with some greenish tones and comes in 28 Cashel and 14 Aida ( you must remember that linen, evenweave and aida all take the dyes differently and the color can vary greatly from one fabric to another); Shale is an overdyed grayish color in 28 Cashel and 14 Aida; Whimsy, in 32 Belfast, is a springy lavender; Crystal Meditation is a 28 Cashel, sparkly medium blue, like the sky, with small shots of a lavender color coming out now and then. 28 count Country French Blue linen is a blue-gray color; 32 lugana pink waterfall, a medium pink overdye; and 28 hand-dyed Jobelan in Pink Dahlia, a darker pink. We also restocked on some basic R&R and Weeks Dye Works fabrics in popular and standard colors.

But the biggest news yet for this post, is the fibers from THREADWORX have finally arrived. 196 gorgeous skeins of color. I played with them the day they came in, admiring the colors and organizing them on rings. Some are solid in their color, others varigate the color and still others change color completely, like Christmas Time, #1085, which is red and green and Christmas Candy, #1086, which is red, green and white; Morning Glory, #1080 is lavenders and blues, while Lady Slipper, #10811, is pinks and greens. You need to see these colors to believe! The Threadworx floss comes in 5 yard skeins and retails for $2.35 each. They would be great used in a project with a monocramatic color theme. Like the Christmas Time would probably look great in one of JBW's Christmas tree charts or use one of the spring colors like Wildflowers, #10592 in her new A Very Merry Spring. I'm going to pick one of the colors and stitch up Ink Circles new Pot of Luck and see what I get. 20 yard skeins are available at a very reasonable price and can be special ordered. If you are doing a very large project, this would be a very cost effective way to go. Threadworx overdyed six-strand embroidery floss is 100% Egyptian Giza cotton. Also available in overdyed Pearl in #3, #5, #8 and #12. (These may be special ordered.)

Threadworx (previously sold as Needle Necessities) has been around for a while and I think they will stay around with their beautiful color selections.

Hey, Stitchers! I'm back!! Sorry it's been so long but I was so exhausted after market and the drive down and back I sorta collapsed. Getting the shop rearranged has been a great effort and I'm just getting back to feeling pretty good.

Market was great, as usual and very over-whelming. So many designers and so much product. There were fewer designers this year but still impressive.

Crescent Colours has eight new floss colors and 13 new Belle Soie Silk colors. Gentle Art Sampler Threads and Weeks Dye Works, both, have beautiful new floss colors to add to their line. And speaking of threads, I've decided to bring in the entire line of 196 colors of Threadworx in the 5 yard skeins. I think they will enhance our current color lines.

Carriage House Samplings has several new charts, including Esther Yeakel and Salina Schultz, both reproduction samplers. I'm mentioning them because they are local samplers. The Schwenkfelder Museum, in nearby Pennsburg, Pa., owns the samplers and had them reproduced by Carriage House. It's really great to see some local history coming to light today.

Blackbird Designs has a new series of petite stockings. If you keep up with the series, you will have 36 stockings to adorn your tree. The first three months of the year are out with 3 stocking patterns for each month.

Blue Ribbon Designs have 3 great new charts out: It's Cold Outside, Read Between the Lines and Hugs and Kisses. Stitch as graphed or pull out sections or motifs and stitch individually.

The Good Huswife is back with new and different designs. Home Sweet Home and Ida Mae Crow are both really cute.

JBW Designs has French Hen, reminiscent of those milk glass hen on nest our grandmothers had; French Country Baby Carriage, great to personalize with that new babies name; Shoe Stopper, for all those shoe fanatics; French Country Monogram Collection, which has 3 upper case alphabets and 1 lower case alphabet to personalize the included designs or anything you
may want; and A Very Merry Spring, a really cute Easter egg.

Glendon Place has several new charts out right now and several more to come. The Harvest Gourds is really nice and I will be creating a shop sample as soon as I get the Anchor threads to stitch it. Sixteen Gobbles is a kit and contains fabric and floss.
Many more new charts are here - these are but a few. Primitive Needle has A & E (Adam and Eve), Cape Cod's Girls and Earth Sampler; Homespun Elegance has Treasure Box II , Welcomes 'A Plenty VII and The Stitching Lady; Little House Needleworks has Traveling Stitcher, a cute graph to attach to a stitching 'purse' to carry accessories and floss; Country Cottage Needleworks has Bayside Bungalows, a must for those with a shore house.

Again, these are just a few of the "NEW" from the Nashville Market. I'm having trouble staying linked to the web so I'm leaving you for now. When we return, we'll talk about all the new fabrics I brought back. See ya and keep stitching. Carolyn
