In January we will start our first round of FIRST FRIDAY STITCHING.... THE SPRING STITCH CLUB.  The club starts on Friday January 2.

We meet on the first Friday of the month from 7-9pm and stitch a project that has something to do with one of the first 5 months of the year.  You could stitch Valentine, Patriotic, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, snowmen, flowers...anything that happens in the first 5 months.  (Later in June, we'll switch to our Halloween Stitch.)  The cost is $25.00 for the 5 months.  If you don't think you can dedicate the First Friday of each month, you could 'visit' us when possible and pay $5.00 for each night you come.

Sign up today, before you get too busy with the Holiday preparations.  Call and reserve a seat.  You don't want to miss out on all the fun we have on this special night!

WINTER WEATHER

You all know the little chat we are going to have.  I hate winter weather and the older I get the more it 'shakes' me up.  I don't want to take a foot outside when it's around.

So, if the weather is questionable, please give the shop a call and make sure I'm here.  Some times I'll arrive late or leave early and I don't want you to make a needless trip and have you upset at me because I'm not at the shop.                        Shop number is 215.513.9373

SLEDGS AND TAGS

Have you seen the charts you can stitch a design on perforated paper and add the design to a mini sled ornament?  They are really cute.  There are about 10 different charts for the cute sleds.  However, somebody 'goofed' and there are no more  sleds available till Spring of 2015.  So here we sit with all these designs to stitch and no where to put them....or is there a place?  Well there is!

Take a design  for the sleds and stitch it or stitch a name.   Take a tag....change up the brown tie to a red and white peppermint twist tie....add the stitched design or name and, voila, you've got a gift tag that can be used as an ornament.  Stitch designs, names, dates, anything you want and create a cute tag/ornament. We have the tags available and they  are inexpensive.  The peppermint ties are available by the yard.  Stop in and check them out!!

GRANDMA KRINGLE'S...NEW DESIGNER TO SHOP

There's a new designer in the shop....Grandma Kringle's Folk Art and Needlework Designs.  I first saw her owl and then I did some googling and found her blog and other designs and knew I'd like to carry them in the shop.  I'm not a great fan of owl's, but I thought this one was really cute....guess the patriotic accessories really caught my eye and I know I'm going to have to stitch him.

Well, here they are.....4 ornaments from Grandma Kringle:

Winter's Patriot

All is Calm

Winter's Night

Winter's Frost

Stop in and check them out!  Quick and easy stitch...Easy finishing...Great Christmas gift!

NEW RELEASES

New from Little House Needleworks in November is Lantern Lane.  Stitched on 30ct Northern Cross linen, natural, the stitch count is 199x125.

Also new from LHN, is a series of 12 sampler styled ornaments, using Classic Colorworks fibers.  The stitched size is approximately 3,5 inches on 32ct R&R Winter Brew. (The first 4 ornies all use the Winter Brew fabric.)   Fibers used are:  Sassy Brass, Ginger Snap, Eggshell, Cherry Cobbler, Roasted Chestnut, Weeping Willow and Caterpillar.  These colors will be used throughout the entire series.

The first ornament will be released in December, so sign up now to get your sampler styled ornaments.  Call or email me to have your name added to the list so you get all 12.  I usually don't get involved in a series but I'm going to do this one.  Not yet sure if they'll become ornaments or just a small pillow.  Will have to wait and see.

NEW CHARTS

Just arrived from Plum Street Samplers are Autumn Fraktur, above,  and The Autumn Tart, below.  I think I might mount the Autumn Tart on a  circular form and trim out with twisted cord for an ornie.  I love Pennsylvania German fraturs and know I've got to do this one.  But before I start it, I need to do Scattered Seed Samplers, show below, Hannah's Thankful Heart.  If I stick with it, I should have it done for T-day.  Also in from Plum Street are The Birthday Tart and A Primitive Moodkeep.  Stop in and check them out.

For you snowman lovers, here's 2 from Val's Stuff, in one chart....All I Want for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING...

Yes, I know, we haven't even seen Halloween yet, but have you noticed, Christmas is already in all of the stores?  And the Christmas charts are appearing.....

Little House Needleworks gives us a cute cardinal on Seasons Greetings.

Imaginating offers up Let's Deck the Halls, above. and Let's Be Jolly, a very round snowman.

Third in the 2014 ornament series from Country Cottage Needlework is Snow Love.   I really like the shape on this one.

Jingle comes from Cross Eyed Cricket.  I think it makes a really nice pillow, but I'm apt to leave off the ruffle and just use the cording.

By the Bay brings us a variety in Angels of the Holy Night.  You could use her suggested color scheme or easily change it....you can become your own designer.  Start now and you could finish some of these for this  holiday!

Pineberry Lane new charts and others....

Lizzie Kate brings us some new stockings for this year.  I think they're cuter than last years.  Flora's getting better.

Halloween Night from Needle Bling Designs....I like the left portion and think it'd make a cute ornie.

Fancey Blackett's October Ride....a must stitch  and her All Hallow's Eve  is another, both from Pineberry Lane.  Boy, I'm going to be stitching Halloween designs till next Halloween!

Threadwork Primitives brings us Give Thanks and My Work.  I've started My Work and it's all finished except the bottom edge.

Vickery Collection has Choppers....any cycle lovers out there?

Heart in Hand has a cute one for the holiday.....A Merry Christmas.  It should stitch up quickly if you need a little gift for someone.  You could even finish it as an easel standup.

JUST IN.....

Dames of the Needle brings us Santa's Sleigh Ride stitched on 28ct Milk Chocolate.  Starry Witch is stitched on 30ct Carrot but we've got a variety of orange colors available, including a beautiful overdye in 14ct Aida.

Hinzeit's Wicked Witch has charms included in the chart.

I love cats, and I love this Miss Isabelle Black from a new designer to the shop, Scattered Seed Samplers.  Guess you already know I'm going to have to do this one!

Another chart, from the same designer, is Harvest Hares Pinkeep.  A nice size pillow finishing out at about 7x4 on a 32ct fabric.

Last, but not least, from Little House Needleworks comes another in the Hometown Holiday Series, the Firehouse and a monochromatic color scheme on natural, Moonlight.  I've been thinking about this one and I think it would finish up nicely as a standup and maybe change the fabric color.

Well that's it for today.  Gotta go and do some stitching!  Stop by soon and check out these and other new designs.  See ya!

FINISHING DEADLINES FOR CHRISTMAS

Time is marching on at a very fast pace.  Saturday November 15, 2014 is the deadline for receiving framing and finishing needed for Christmas.  Any items received after this date are not guaranteed to be finished before the holiday.

So beware!  Get stitching and finish those pieces that will be gifts and get them in to be finished or framed.

CATS ON PARADE

Alternative finishing idea for BBD's Cats on Parade on perforated paper.  I laced it on  at the back of the jar and put in a mini string of lights.  Wanted to have it flicker so I need to get another string that does flicker, but I'm very pleased with the results.

NEW FROM THE SCARLETT HOUSE AND OTHERS

I love White Pumpkins and The Scarlett House has put out Penny Pumpkin and a regular pumpkin called Pumpkins & Bittersweet.  I think both of these are on my 'to do' list.

Homespun Elegance has 3 new ornament charts just released this year:  Olde Saint Nicholas, Merry Christmas Wishes and Snowmen Everywhere.  The colors just don't show up really good in these pics.  They are much more colorful.

Scissortail Designs just released her Snowflake Ornaments.  They complement her Snowflake Tree.

Lastly, Amaryllis Needleworks has brought out another beauty...The Quaker Keeper.
