NEW HOURS

Since I have reached my 'golden' years (don't know who decided they'd be golden, I think they're more like rusty years) I've decided I'd like to have a little fun on my days off.  Since most of the small businesses in the area that I like to shop at are closed on Mondays like I am, I've decided to close both Monday  and Tuesday --- starting Tuesday January 8, 2013.  I'm  not running around every Tuesday, but  I intend to go visit some of those shops and have luncheons with friends (then I don't have to cook dinner...yea).  I'll even get some more stitching hours.

Our hours will remain the same:  Wednesday and Friday 10-4, Thursday 10-6 , Saturday 10-3 and the first Sunday of the month, 11-2.

Mark this on your calendar!  Remember, we will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays starting Jan. 8, 2013.

Don't forget with this bad weather season looming, if the weather looks 'iffy', call and make sure I'm here.
I am a fair weather girl.  Don't want to fall  and mess up my knees....or other body parts.  Yesterday was a trip just getting across the parking lot to my car with the sleet that was coming down.  I'm not afraid of driving, but I am afraid of falling.

Stop in and check out the bargains in the store.  Lots of fabrics have been discounted and we have lots of small cuts for ornaments or slightly larger pics.  The entire shop is 20% off and special merchandise is deeply discounted until Sunday January 6, 2013.

Take care and have a Happy New Year!!!!!!!

It's on the way.......and IMPORTANT INFO

The last of the Blackbird Designs Loose Feathers chart for 2012 is on it's way and will be here shortly. The sampler looks really nice and colorful and I like all the projects.  Got the Gentle Art colors in earlier in the week and I can't wait till the chart comes.  All I can tell you is that I think I read that  it's worked on 30 count putty .  The fabric will arrive with the charts.  Come check it out.

You know, bad weather can pop up at any time, so if the weather is questionable, and you are out and about, call first and make sure I'm here.

Tonight, the 3rd Wednesday of the month, is our last free stitch night for 2012.  The next free stitch night will be January 16 at 6:30 pm.  Come give us a try.

The 'Spring' Stitch Club will meet Friday January 4th, 2013 from 7-9.  This club will meet through May 2013 and the cost to join is $25.00.  You must stitch something associated with these months, like a project for Valentine's Day, Easter, just plain Spring, etc.  Free patterns will be handed out and we will have a 'party' in May.  Call to sign up for this group...a few seats are still available.

The Halloween Club will be held the first Friday of the month, starting June and will run through October.
Cost is $25.00 and will operate just like the Spring club, except you must stitch Halloween.  We are taking reservations for the group.  Remember this year was our first club and  we had a 'coven' of 14.

We do have a free group that meets during the day.  It is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month.  We have no meeting for December, so our next get together will be on Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013.  We meet from 9-12.

As you know, if you've been following the  blog and talking to me in the shop,  I've gotten interested in wool applique.  I would like to be able to get together with others interested in either wool applique or rug hooking, as I feel the two crafts share some common ground.

I would like to form a group, known as Friday Eve with Ewe and Me.  We would meet the 4th Friday of the month from 7-9.  The cost would be $25.00 for the year.  You can work on either applique or hooking, just as long as you are working with wool fabric.  I'm really hoping some of you ladies will join me as I'm really interested in talking to others who love working with wool.  I'd like to exchange ideas about patterns and designers, tips to working with wool, color ideas and just 'everything' wool.  Call today and reserve your spot for the first meeting of Friday Eve with Ewe and Me on January 25, 2013.

As it is getting really close to Christmas, may I wish all of you a Happy Holiday and best wishes for the New Year, may it be healthy and prosperous for all.

SNEAK PEEK.......

Here's a sneak peek at the Mystery Sampler from Blue Ribbon Designs.  Entitled "Blue Jeans and Daisies" it's going to be very colorful.  Don't forget to sign up, today, so  you'll be able to start this project in late January when it arrives.  Remember, it is a 3 part sampler.

IT'S HERE - STACY NASH'S NEWEST.........

Christmas at Hollyberry Farm is finally here and absolutely beautiful.  Stitched with Gentle Art threads, using one strand of floss, over 2 threads, on 35 count Mink from R&R Reproductions.  The fabric is available, now, as are the fibers.

This design is applied to a piece of  aged homespun fabric and then mounted in the frame...an unique way to finish.

N E W MYSTERY SAMPLER

Well, here we go again with another  Mystery Sampler!  Blue Ribbon Designs has designed a 3 part Mystery Sampler filled with springtime stitching suspense.  You will receive the first part in late January, followed by additional parts in February and March.  The chart, 10x20 inches finished design, uses a fat quarter of 30 count Weeks Dye Works linen, whose color is currently  , also, a mystery.  They told us to 'keep your pants on' regarding the fabric color and I think this was a definite clue.  (Can you guess the color being used?)  23 skeins of Weeks Dye Works floss are used in the piece (with several multiples in this design). So give us a call at 215.513.9373 and sign up for the next Mystery Sampler, sponsored by Norden Crafts.

S A L E ...............

Don't forget our Pre-Inventory Sale.  I don't want to count all this merchandise so I'm putting the entire shop on sale - 20% off everything in the shop.  Special orders are not subject to the 20% discount.  There's lots here in the shop that I want to pass onto you so this merchandise will be deeply discounted......charts, buttons and fabric!  This sale is lasting till January 6 .  You may make better buys on different days.  Discounts may get better on some items as the sale progresses.  Multiple visits may be required!

Lizzie Kate is sending out an auto, probably as we speak. A LITTLE CHRISTMAS  kit is new in her series.  I think it's really cute.  The kit includes linen fabric, beads and charm.  Also coming is a Quick-It for tiny stockings.  Check out her blog for other new items.

November Holidays and Hours and upcoming events

With the approach of the holidays, I wanted to remind you of our hours.  We are open Tuesday through Friday 10-4.  I am reinstating late hours on Thursday till 6 PM.  Hope this helps some of you who requested late hours.  If 6 PM is still a bit of a stretch to get here, please, just give me a call and I can stay later.  If I have a previous obligation, I will let you know.  Saturday, I am open 10-3 and the first Sunday of the month, 11-2.

Of course, we will be closed Thanksgiving Day and we will reopen Friday at 10 AM.  Please make us a stop on your Black Friday shopping.  We have lots of charts and fabrics for a special project as a gift for someone, along with lots of stitching accessories.  If you don't want to pick a project for someone, we do have Gift Certificates in any dollar amount.

You know, we have a free stitch-in on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30.  Why not come join us some evening.  We sit and stitch and have lots of fun.  In November, due to the holiday, we have moved our stitching night to Friday, November 16.  Check us out. We do have lots of fun.

We have a day time stitch group that meets from 9-12 on the 4th Wednesday of the month. The next one will be held on Wednesday November 28th.  During that meeting, we will discuss a possible change for the December meeting.

This past summer, we had a Halloween Club which met once a month and we stitched only Halloween.
We had so much fun, that we are going to hold it again in 2013  from June through October and the cost to join will be $25.00.  Some of the members wanted something in the spring - would it be Easter or what?    The Spring Club will be held January through May, the first Friday of the month from 7-9 PM.  The cost will be $25.00  There will be a 'party'  in May.  This club will be a kind of free for all----you MUST stitch a piece that is Easter, Spring or Valentine's themed.  Any thing goes as long as the theme of the pattern occurs in the Spring.

Give us a call and request a spot on either of our Clubs.  Space is definitely limited.  A credit card number will put you on the list.

As for December, Christmas is on Tuesday, and of course we will be closed for the holiday.  Our Annual Pre-Inventory Event will  start on Wednesday December 26 and continue until Sunday January 6, 2013.
Keep this Event in mind as we will be house cleaning and  offering some really good deals!

I'm Back....

Had a great time and weather cooperated.  Will tell you more later but had to get these 2 pics up.  Threadwork Primitives is bringing out this design, perfect for the holiday.  Fill with Christmas cards or greens and hang on the back of a door or hang from a shelf or an old hutch.  Gonna start this one, myself, soon as it comes in.  The second is a sampler from the 2012 Winter issue of Sampler and Antique needlework magazine, hot off the presses.  Isn't it beautiful?  There are crowns and birds, dogs and butterflies thoughout and a verse stitched primarily over one thread.  Just think.... an 11 year old girl did this in 1835 and she didn't have an Ott light to stitch by.

Hope everyone came through Hurricane Sandy unscathed  and that the next storm trickles down to just a rain storm.

Talk again soon.

New Lizzie Kate Designs

We've just received Lizzie Kate's newest charts.  We had a pic, earlier,  of her new Christmas kit, Joy to the World, and it is beautiful.  I worked it up last weekend and it was super easy and quick.   You get the chart and fabric in the kit.  Just waiting for the frame to arrive and we'll be able to hang it.  Also in, is the next Inspirational Boxer about LIFE.

Flora McSample has a new chart out with quick Christmas ornaments.  I think these would be great looking on small easels on a table top or bookshelf.

And finally, the last 3 Snow Belles are here:  Ice Queen, Frosty Friends and Blizzard Babe.  The last pic shows the entire set done as one large picture.  The placement and the border can be found on Lizzie Kate's website.  We also have a couple sets of last year's 6 Fat Men still available with a  special price of $25.00 for the set.

NOVEMBER 4 - IMPORTANT DATE

Sunday, November 4th is the final day I can accept framing and finishing for the Christmas season.
It's earlier this year as I've decided I'd like to have a less stressful holiday.  Call it selfish, but I am getting older and it does take me longer to do 'everything' anymore.

If you have a piece in progress that needs framing, and it has 3 edges finished, you can bring it in for measuring and I can pre-order the frame.  A $15.00 deposit is required on each frame order.  I would have to have those pieces stitched and  in the shoppe by November 17th.  This would give you a little extra time to finish those pieces for the holidays.

Please don't ask me to extend the deadline.  I am the only one to work on framing and I do it at home in the evenings.  I need time to get them all finished and still do my housework, decorating and shopping for the holidays.  Thanks for your understanding on this matter.

LIZZIE KATE COMING IN OCTOBER

Lizzie Kate will ship her next auto to us around October 10 and this kit will be among the goodies - Joy to the World.  It looks like something I might want to stitch.  The smaller piece is mounted on a wood box but it would look great as a pincushion or small pillow.

The last 3 of the Snow Belles will be released:  Ice Queen, Frosty Friends and Blizzard Babe.  We will also be getting back in the ABC's of Christmas, a popular holiday design.

SEPTEMBER NEWS AND EVENTS

The best laid plans of mice and men.......they often go astray.  Guess you know that quote.  Well I know it today.  Just sent out an email to my followers and  a big long list was returned to me because my email was too large.  Never before has this happened.  Going to eliminate an attachment and hope I can resend (unfortunately to everyone) and that everyone will receive it.

Can you believe it's Labor Day Weekend coming up, already?  I can't, but I'm sure ready for the fall to come.  This summer's been a hard one.  Although now they say we'll have colder weather this winter than usual and more snowfall.  We just can't seem to win.  So I guess I'm going to have to remind everyone to call first and make sure I'm here on really wintry days.

So, here's what's new for September:

1.  We will be open this Saturday 9/1 from 10-3 and Sunday 9/2 from 11-2.  Come join us for the LAST DAYS OF SUMMER EVENT.  Everything in the shoppe will be discounted 20%.  Frequent Buyer Cards will not be punched or redeemed.  September Summer Coupon may be used but can't be combined with this discount.

2.  The shoppe WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY AND SATURDAY 9/8 AND 9/9 to attend the Cash and Carry Needlework Market in Baltimore, MD.  We're going to check out over 100 designers' and distributors'  booths.  Am expecting lots of goodies - new charts, flosses, fabric......Can't wait to bring it all home.  Check us out on Tuesday Sept. 11 for new stuff.

3.  Coming in September, we will be selling 100% WOOL for all your wool applique, penny rug and hooking needs.  We will be carrying Weeks Dye Works wool, hand dyed in a variety of colors, all of which match their beautiful over-dyed flosses.  They hand-dye the wool in solids along with houndstooth and herringbone designs, which will add texture, detail and dimension to your pieces.  We will also be carrying patterns and kits relating to wool applique and penny rugs.  We will be adding these over the rest of the fall season.  We will  also be offering classes this fall.  Stay tuned for more on WOOLS.

4.  Just a reminder about the RUG HOOKING CLASS on Sat. Sept. 22 from 12-4.  Check the previous post for more info.  Still have room available.

5.  A.M. STITCH GROUP - Come and join others to sit and stitch on the 4th Wednesday of the month (next date is 9/26) from 9-12.  If you don't drive at night, this is perfect for you.  Bring a project and enjoy the company of fellow stitchers.  As this is still new, please give me a head's up if you are planning to attend.

If you can't make this day stitch group, don't forget we have an evening group that meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month (next one is 9/19) from 6:30 to 8:30).  Come give us a try.

6.  PIZZA NIGHT - FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29  from 4-9.  $15.00 fee is payable at time of registration.

What's New?

Here's a pic of the last.....September Word Play.  Hard to believe it started almost a year ago.  We've enjoyed them all.  Don't have them all stitched, but they are coming along.

Lila's Studio, our local designer, brought in a new one and you can see it and a companion piece finished.
Lila brought in her 2 framed pieces for Witch's Brew and Old Witch Mary.  I really like the verse on this design and I might have to do it.

Part 2 of Lizzie Kate's Halloween Mystery Sampler is in and available.  Next week she ships her auto and we're expecting Unwrap the Joy, the annual Santa 2012 snippet.  Tiny Tidings XVII and embellishments will arrive.  The next inspirational boxer will be available:  Faith, Hope and Love.  And last but not least, the first 3 of her new series will be available....Six Snow Belles!  This series is the 'female' version of last year's 6 Fat Men.  They are created and stitched like the 6 Fat Men and can be assembled into one piece and use most of the same colors.

TRUNK SHOW and M O R E.........

Hey, stitchers, we are having a TRUNK SHOW featuring Nan Lewis, a local designer from the Philadelphia area.  Nan's company is Threadwork Primitives and she has some really cute designs and great finishing ideas.  You can see her products at www.threadworkprimitives.blogspot.com....check her out.  Then come in and see the pieces in person and you can pick up your favorite charts and take them home and stitch, stitch, stitch!

I stitched 2 of her designs and they worked up so quickly.  Now I just need to find the right fabric to get them finished.  I stitched Kringle Crow and I want to finish him like she did, into a long and narrow pillow.  He's going to look real cute tucked on a shelf or into a bookcase or even in a basket with greens for the holidays.  She has a similar one for Halloween and that is my next stitch.  I really like her designs.

The TRUNK SHOW will be on display from Tuesday July 24th through Saturday August 4th.  Come check it out and get some stitching ideas for the fall.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY will be held at the same time as the TRUNK SHOW .  All Christmas charts and Mill Hill kits will be 20% off.  Halloween will also be featured at 15% off.  We will have selected charts available with a 25% discount (we need to move some of these charts to free up room for new ones coming out soon)  ----  Come  check them all out......

Christmas in July discounts and Summer coupons cannot be combined.

STITCHING CONTEST.......dates have been rescheduled.  We will hold our first Stitching Contest, here at our new location from August 7 through August 18.  Enter your favorite pillow, banner or framed piece.  All visitors to the shop will vote on their favorite piece.   The winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate.  2nd place will get a certificate for $15.00 and 3rd place will receive a $10.00 certificate.

All entries must be received by Saturday August 4 and picked up after the contest by Saturday Aug. 25.

Want  to become a HOOKER.....A RUG HOOKER?  We will be holding a Beginning Rug Hooking Class on Saturday September 22 from 12-4.  You will hook a mug rug, also known as a coaster, in a primitive style.  Keep in contact for more info, soon.  Also hope to have samples for you to see.

Stay indoors and keep cool and stay stitching.

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Another in her French Country line....French Country Owl.  She has a new series out called Stitch Alongs - all will be long and horizontal. The Great Pumpkin Alphabet is the first in the series.  Halloween Ornaments I, II, and III  - 4 mini ornaments to each chart.  They certainly would go a long way to decorate a Halloween tree.

And here's another ornament from Little House Needleworks...Six Little Cardinals.

DON'T FORGET, I WILL BE CLOSED THIS SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY FOR THE JULY 4th HOLIDAY.

ENJOY AND HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY!

NEW LOCAL DESIGNER

Never before have I seen a new designer come to one of my distributors  and I immediately fell in love with almost all her designs.  Threadwork Primitives is a new designer to the shoppe and hails from Philadelphia.  I ordered just about every chart Hoffman Distributing Co. had to offer and  half were out of stock already.
I've sent an email to the designer and hope I can obtain them directly from her, since she's so local.

I've attached pictures of the charts I ordered  -  some are already in the shop and the others will appear, shortly, I hope.

Above is Happy 4th ,  reminiscent of older flag designs.

Bloom Sampler is cute with it's hopping hare.

Star Spangled Pinkeep is very patriotic and Be Ye Merry would be great for the holidays as an ornament.

Of course, this next one would be a favorite of mine - it's Halloween.  I like the way its finished with the little pocket on the right to hold the very fragrant Sweet Annie.  This is October Jack.

I like the design on this pincushion - Autumn Majesty  and it's followed by Falling Leaves.

Another favorite is Kringle's Crow....I like crows, too.

A particular favorite is Chelsea's Pinkeep.  I'm really attracted to this one, even though I don't really like to stitch alphabets.    The last, again is one I'll need to do, Enchanted Crow......after all it's both Halloween and crows (I'm really stuck doing this).

Check out Hoffman's website at www.hoffmandis.com where you can see all her patterns.  We can order any that you might like that I didn't order for the shoppe.  Also check out her blog at www.threadworkprimitives.blogspot.com.  Let's welcome her as a new designer!

Let me know what you think of her primitive designs.

PRAIRIE SCHOOLER 2012 SANTA

Prairie Schooler 2012 Santa is here and is joined by 2 Christmas charts:  Reindeer Roundup and O Christmas Tree.

Halloween charts this year are Heads Up - more to add to your Halloween tree and All Hallows Eve.

THEN, I got a big surprise when I realized there were more charts in the package.  She designed 2 smaller charts, a little larger than the yearly Santa and they were Halloween Designs.....So we have Knock Knock and Whoo's There?.    I think both are cute and they are both on my list to stitch....so much so that I started Knock Knock last night.  I want to finish both of them and finish them on an easel so they can stand anywhere and they will be a rather inexpensive finish.

Also in yesterday's mail, Cross Eyed Cricket charts arrived.  And once again, I know I have to do the bathing suit pillow from Summers at the Lake.  Just waiting for fabric to arrive (guess I don't have enough fabric to choose from-- ha,ha!)  These charts were pictured in a previous posting.

We had a great time at our first Black Hat Society meeting.  There are 14 members in the group.  We stitched Halloween and had a lot of laughs.  Waiting for the next meeting so I can get back to that WIP (Work In Progress)!

Gotta go and take floss inventory so... keep stitching!
